Job Introduction
Job Title – General Manager

G4S Secure Solutions has a vacancy for a General Manager based in Pretoria(Zambezi) & Ear Rand(Boksburg).

Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, the General Manager is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely administration/completion of the operations processes in line with company policies and procedures.

The successful incumbent is a self-starter with a proven track record in maintaining company policy, adopting best practices, and is able to exercise sound judgment in the pursuit of the achievement of the goals of the organisation, and understanding the role which support plays within a successful business unit. The incumbent will be expected to be results driven and to live the values of the organisation.

Main Responsibilities
The General Manager coordinates the provision of contractual and ad hoc security services to customers within the region, in compliance with legislation, Company policies and procedures, to ensure achievement of budgeted financial targets.

Key Performance Areas

Effective management of the regional financial performance

Manage relationship between actual results, budgets and forecasts
Initiate cost saving model and controls
Gross Margin Management
Ensuring that claims against the Company are prevented or minimized through regular customer risk assessments.
Responsible for Interpretation and monitoring of P & L Statements
Responsible for Budget preparation
Identify and implement Profit Improvement Strategies and Plans
Identifying and Managing Business Risks
Ensure that escalations are achieved within the agreed timelines
Manage the Region’s cash flow

Effective management staff within region

Staff turnover analysis, proper allocation of staff to positions and structure.
Succession Planning and Employment Equity
Attendance of subordinates at scheduled training interventions (WSP and ATR comparison), meeting of employment equity goals, succession planning.
Ensuring that performance assessments of all subordinate employees are conducted, and corrective action implemented where necessary.
Ensuring that acceptable standards of behavior at work are maintained by all subordinate employees, as required by G4S’s code of conduct and disciplinary code.
Ensuring that all disciplinary actions are conducted in compliance with Company policies and procedures

Effective management of operations

Quality Management/Ops Process management – adherence to quality standard
Conducting Security Risk Assessments and Presenting Risk Mitigation Solutions
Develop and implement customer retention strategies
Understanding of Commercial Contracts and execution as per the SLA’s

Effective management of business development function

Identifying new business opportunities in the region’s sphere of operations, as well as in terms of growth of business with existing customers, driven by the promotion of integrated security solutions.
Implement strategies/plans to secure growth opportunities
Monitor and assess the market environment in terms of competitors and current customers.
Ensure that all new quotes are done at profitable margins
Upsell of products and new services in line with customers’ needs and risks
Ensure all vehicles are correctly branded and maintained to improve company image and market share.
Adhere to all company brand guidelines

Health and Safety

Participate in the design/ development/ review/ implementation and monitoring of the branch/region/national safety plans for each year.
Participate in safety forums created by company for example safety meetings and safety talks
Report all safety incidents to the relevant people
Discuss all safety incidents on all levels
Follow-up on any activities assigned through safety meeting/committee/representative/management
Attend safety education and refresher programmes
Comply with safety policies and procedures at workplace
Distribute safety information as and when required
Wear protective clothing all the time

The Ideal Candidate

Minimum Requirements:
Minimum 3 year Tertiary Qualification
Minimum 5 years’ experience in security management would be deemed suitable for the level of the position
PSIRA Grade B
Registered Security Service Provider
