Position Purpose :

To implement comprehensive safety management programs and systems at area/depot level and assist the operational

area/infrastructure depot to achieve a zero incident tolerance business strategy and ensure compliance to company safety

policies, rail and safety directives and standards, relevant legislation and sound safety best practices

Position outputs :

  • Contribute to the area and corporate safety plan and strategy
  • Develop, interpret and execute depot audit, training, assessments, monitoring, surveys and inspection plans/programs
  • Monitor continuously the implementation of the safety programmes and systems
  • Establish and implement a comprehensive area/depot specific contingency plan
  • Implement an effective safety management information system

Qualifications & Experience :

  • Matric
  • 3 Years Degree / National Diploma in Safety Management or Equivalent( 3 year Degree/ Diploma)
  • Be in possession of a (Code B) Driver’s Licence and be competent and prepared to drive such a vehicle
  • 3 Years’ experience in Safety Related Environment
  • Experience in Investigating
  • Establish and maintain good relationship with key stakeholders in the area
  • Provide expert advice and guidance
  • Build capacity within the area
